What Happened When I Taught Daniel & Revelation to a Secular, New Age Crowd
A couple of years ago I hosted a podcast series with a life coach. He was a popular influencer with millions of online followers who had recently come to Jesus. So he invited me to do a podcast series exploring the Bible so he could share it with his secular, mostly New Age audience.
We did the series in 3 parts: The gospel, the visions of Daniel, and finally… Revelation.
And if you asked me before we started, I would have said this:
“The gospel is where we are going to get the most engagement. At Daniel and Revelation, we are going to lose people.”
Why did I think this? Because the prevailing narrative among Millennials like myself at the time was that no one cares about Daniel and Revelation.
BOY WAS I WRONG…
The episodes on Daniel and Revelation didn’t just retain our usual listeners.
They blew up! We had way more listeners engaging and sharing the podcast during those episodes than any others.
Remember, our audience wasn’t SDA. It wasn’t churchy. I didn’t promo this podcast to my Adventist listeners. We predominantly promo’d it to my friends secular, New Age friends… and they LOVED Dan & Rev.
I had to eat humble pie.
Because it turns out, the whole “no one cares about prophecy” thing? …It was a myth.
Folk were soaking it up and loving it!
The same is true of my Bible study guide “The Road”.
The book remains a huge hit years after its release even though over 60% of the book is prophecy…
But… why am I telling you this?
